Welikesmall : Pereira & O’Dell’s agency site

There’s no higher a compliment an ad agency can give a shop than to ask them to create their agency site. After a handful of successful projects, Welikesmall was honored to be given such a task by our friends at Pereira & O’Dell.

The site had to be slick, smart and full of personality: just like Pereira & O’Dell. The site is a marriage of brand new tech – most notably with an HTML5/mobile/iPad optimized front end powered by a great CMS – and some low end tech by the way of loads of easter eggs and animated GIFs.

rehabstudio Joins Aarra

Joining Aarra’s portfolio of premium interactive talent is rehabstudio, a London- and Belfast-based shop with a hand-crafted approach to digital creative and production.

rehab does it all — interactive, user experience design, technology, front end, back end, mobile web, you name it.

And unlike some other blokes, they’ll take you out for a whiskey when they’re done.

Okay, two whiskeys. Three, maybe three.

Have a Lollipop

Interactive creative production company Lollipop is the latest to join Aarra’s hand-picked roster of digital shops. Aarra will now head up new business stateside for these award-winning Toronto creatives.

Lollipop integrates creative and production under a single roof, collaborating with leading agencies to turn great ideas into amazing digital experiences. They do it all, from site design and development to live actions shoots, from motion graphics to social apps.

Says Executive Producer Amanda Loughran:

“If you have an idea for a website that requires online videos shot in the old KGB offices in Belarus that get pushed out to a mobile site using QR codes scanned from posters with photography shot in Iqualuit that gets posted to a brand page on Flickr, no worries, we can make all that happen.”

Amanda, Michael Gramlow and Tim Scollick are the top dogs at Lollipop, and all three come from the agency side of things. Having spent some time in the trenches themselves, they know how agencies work, and they know the level of service agencies need from a production partner. Their goal? “To make the process as enjoyable and uncomplicated as we possibly can.” Agencies lucky enough to have gotten a taste of Lollipop include:

  • Goodby, Silverstein & Partners
  • Cramer-Krasselt
  • Dentsu
  • Publicis
  • Y&R

Past clients have ranged from Lexus, Chevy, Toyota and Mazda to The Next Three Days movie, Black Sunshine Coffee, and Sapporo beer.

The resulting work has been featured by the FWA, Creative Review, Shots and Creativity.

The best thing about Lollipop? They have the absolute bestest people ever. (It’s true. They even say so on their website.) We’re thrilled to be working with them. Even if we did have to look up where Iqualuit is. (North. Very north.)

Check out Lollipop’s world-class work at wearelollipop.com.

Driftlab : .Net Magazine Features

Driftlab was profiled in December 2010’s .Net Magazine Showcase, a full two-page spread on the guys and their work, touching on everything from Driftlab’s origins to its social media strategy, to advice on building Facebook apps.

Two months later, Driftlab practically owns the place, or at least a good four pages. The February issue of .Net will feature the first of a two-part tutorial by Driftlab founders Scott Cook and Ash Warren. Together they’ll tackle the Gaia Flash framework and how to use it to streamline microsite development.

“As the Flash microsite has evolved over the years, certain procedures and conventions have emerged as standards for virtually every project,” write Scott and Ash. “Elements such as SEO, deep-linking, preloading and the standard transition in/out are now fundamentals. At the same time, schedules seem to have become more aggressive over the past few years. Flash developers are often tasked with deploying a full-featured website in just two weeks.”

Gaia is an open-source tool provided by Steven Sacks that allows developers to scaffold a project in less than 10 minutes. In some cases, combining Gaia with Red Bull and coffee has actually reversed the flow of time. In their tutorial, our dynamic duo will walk readers through the process of laying out a sitemap, dummy content, site structure, SWFAddress integration, and supporting class files/libraries, all in under an hour.

Impossible? Decide for yourself this February.

We’re incredibly excited to announce that Potion has just joined Aarra.

SilkTricky : Joins The Aarra Family

Screen shot 2010-02-25 at 10.33.26 AM

We are very excited to announce that SilkTricky has signed with Aarra for U.S. interactive representation.

SilkTricky is a Portland, Oregon based agency specializing in Enteractivity: that sweet spot where interactive and entertainment meet. Their focus is integrated production, combining motion, live-action, flash, interactive design and development.

Those are not just idle words. They back it up with original productions like Bank Run, which is an iPhone game that is integrated with an interactive movie to form  a whole new level of enteractivity. Bank Run was written, shot, designed and produced in-house. Prior to Bank Run, SilkTricky, wrote, directed and produced The Outbreak, a choose-your-own-adventure interactive horror film.

The company is guided by  Lynn Lund, EP; Chris Lund, ECD; and Noah Costello, Interactive Director. They’ve worked with a myriad list of brands such as Nike, Old Spice, Coca-Cola, Lexus, New Castle, and Red Bull.

If Noah and Chris sound familiar, they should. They were the co-founders of Mindflood, which was the wildly successful interactive design company of yesteryear. The team shut down Mindflood in 2007 to pursue personal projects.

You can check out all the work via their site here and I’m sure you’ll be hearing more about them in coming months.
