For Fashion Revolution Day, we hacked a snack-dispensing vending machine and turned it into a social campaigning tool. Standing in the middle of Alexanderplatz in Berlin, it promised eager shoppers a real bargain: one t-shirt for only 2€. But no clothing was dispensed after the coins had been inserted – instead customers watched a video play on the vending machine’s ad hoc display, showing shocking scenes from textile factories where women and children sew without a break. An option appeared on the screen 20 seconds later, asking whether customers wanted to spend the 2€ or donate it to Fashion Revolution instead.
